Sumner repeats title double; Golf northawest.

ALLERTON'S Megan Sumner has scored a remarkable double success in two years - winner of the scratch trophy in the Merseyside Ladies Municipal Championship and of the English Women's Golf Association's Gold Medal.

Repeating her success of two years ago, playing in the 2008 Merseyside Municipal Championship at Hooton she won the Scratch Trophy with the best gross score of 80. She also won the longest drive competition and helped Allerton Ladies win the team event. She followed that with her win in the EWGA Gold Medal at Kingsdown, Wiltshire with a gross 79, nett 72.

Her future tournaments now include a Ping 4bbb tournament in Yorkshire with her Allerton club colleague Kate McLoughlin and also the English Women's Mid-Amateur at Wallasey, both in August.

Megan, aged 21 with a golf handicap of six has just finished a sports development course at Liverpool's John Moores University
