Summer lovin' Family Life: Forget summer fashion dilemmas - pick a few key pieces this season and you're sorted. JOANNE WELFORD reports. Fashion hots up for new season.
SUMMER style has a lot of boxes to tick.
Something casual for a day out with the kids, something hot for a night out on the town - not to mention something cool and trendy that can flick from one to the other in the blink of an eye.
And don't forget occasionwear, especially if you have a wedding or a day at the races planned.
Looking good doesn't have to be a tall order though.
According to the fashionistas, all you have to do is pick a few key pieces and you should have everything you need for seamless summer style.
"Jumpsuits are big news," says Emma Smith, ladieswear manager at Middlesbrough designer department store Psyche.
"So are harem pants - both are so comfortable to wear.
"The maxi dress is the same and at its best in the summer.
"They're good for holidays too because they are light to pack in your case and won't crease." Ethnic inspired prints and tops are great this season, adds Emma.
Simply team with a pair of jeans in a good cut - she recommends going for something with a slight flare to match a long top - and you have a casual outfit that's comfortable and stylish.
Key items are easy to dress up - or dress down, according to your mood and surroundings.
If you are heading on holiday team your maxi or jumpsuit with a pair of flip flops for daytime; swap to gladiator inspired heels for night time impact..
