Summer fun's a kids' winner.

Hambleton youngsters have won a free prize draw organised by the district council. Every child taking part in the authority's Hyper Holiday programme of events during the summer was entered into a draw. Eight-year-old Joshua Peevor, of Stokesley, won a BMX bike and Hannah Lindup, 11, of Northallerton, an iPod Nano. More than 3,000 enjoyed fun at leisure centres sponsored by Simon Bailes Peugeot of Northallerton.

Witness appeal

POLICE are seeking a witness to an assault on a 39-year-old man outside the Tall Trees in Yarm at about 1am on October 16 who photographed the incident on his mobile phone. Contact PC Jacqueline Dring on 01642 302270.

Did you give chase?

GOOD Samaritans helped a driver give chase after a thief smashed his van window and stole a mobile phone in Roman Road, Middlesbrough, at about 2.45pm on October 31. The thief escaped. Witnesses and anyone who helped are urged to call PC Richard Roughton on 01642 303126.

Bag a bargain

UNIQUE School of Dance will hold a jumble and cake sale from 10am to noon on Saturday, November 18, at the Literary Institute, Lord Street, Redcar.
