Summer comes to Leaburg Reservoir.

Byline: The Register-Guard

SUNSHINE poured down, the fish were biting and there was plenty of affection and snacks for all the four-footed and webfooted creatures at the Leaburg Fish Hatchery on Tuesday afternoon.

Along with a handful of lettuce and a bottle of water, Guinny, a 2-year-old, yes, guinea pig, received a few big kisses from owner Kathy Freas of Springfield.

"Everyplace the car goes, she goes. She's just a travel guinea. This is my kid," Freas said.

Troy Scothern of Springfield reeled in a few fish and shared his lunch with the geese who glide through the water at Leaburg Reservoir.
