Sumitomo Chemical entered into an agreement with Oriental Chemical Industries and C. Itoh & Co. to form a joint venture company, named Dong Woo Pure Chemicals Co., Ltd., for the manufacture and sale of high-purity electronics chemicals in the Republic of Korea. Headquarters for the joint venture company will be Iri, Korea. The joint venture will use the existing high-purity chemicals facilities from Oriental Chemical Industries and will construct manufacturing plants of high-purity sulfuric acid and high-purity hydrogen peroxide based on Sumitomo's proprietary technology. Completion is scheduled for the fall of 1992. The venture is owned 40% by Sumitomo, 50% by Oriental Chemical and 10% by C. Itoh & Co.
