SultanateaACAOs Population Exceeds 4.254 Million.

Muscat, Oct 12 (ONA) --- The population in the Sultanate stands at 4.254.416 million as of September 2015, logging a 0.7% growth over figures for August, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the Sultanate's official statistical agency.

Expatriates make up 44.4% of the total population with their numbers crossing 1.888.479 million, while the Omani population edged past 2.365.937 million.

The highest population density was recorded in the Governorate of Muscat at over 1.320.464 million, comprising an increase with 0.7%.The number of expatriates in the Governorate of Muscat reached 828.510 persons, compared to 491.954 Omanis.

The expatriates outnumbering the Omanis by a significant margin of 336,556. Notably, the Governorate of Muscat is the only governorate in the Sultanate having an expatriate population that exceeds nationals.

The Statistics show that the Governorates of A'Dakhiliyah, South A'Sharqiyah, North A'Sharqiyah, A'Dhahirah South Al Batinah and Al- Wusta recorded also a growth rate of 0.4% for each governorate.

The Governorate of North Al Batinah remained second on the list of the governorates containing the largest number of populations in the Sultanate. The residents of the governorate reached 690.780 persons with an increase rate of 0.4%. The Omanis residing in the governorate reached 467.224 persons, compared to 223.556 expatriates.

The population in the Governorate of South A'Sharqiyah reached 279.076, including 190.118 Omanis, while the Governorate of A'Dhakikliyah reached 421.303 persons, including 325.247 Omanis, compared to 96.056 expatriates.

The population in the Governorate of North A'Sharqiyah reached 251.729, including 164.534 Omanis, compared to 87.195 expatriates.

In the Governorate of A'Dhahirah, the population reached 193.687 persons including 143.695 Omanis; in addition to 49.992 expatriates; while the population of the Governorate of Al Wusta reached 41.439 persons including 23.018 Omanis; in addition to 18.421 expatriates.

The residents of the Governorate of Dhofar logged a 0.6% increase by reaching 392.517 persons including 198,318 Omanis; in addition to 194,199 expatriates, the Governorate of Musandam comprised the same percentage of increase as Dhofar to reach 41.531, including 26.468 Omanis and 15.063 expatriates.

The population in the Governorate of Al-Buraymi reached 103.593 persons, comprising an increase with 0.3%, it has somewhat comparable expatriate and Omani populations at 51.588 and 52.005 respectively.

Statistics indicate that there has been a 6.5% increase in the number of expatriates who are classified as not belonging to any particular governorate, with corresponding numbers in September and August recorded as 137.285 and 128.947.
