Sudbury hosts Premier's Awards.

Cambrian College and College Boreal in Sudbury have successfully hosted the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO) Conference and Premier's Awards Ceremony. Held for the first time in Northern Ontario, the event took place on Feb. 19 and 20, featuring prominent speakers such as Stephen Lewis, UN Special Envoy for HIV/Aids in Africa; Ontario Opposition Leader John ToryP; and Jodi White, president of Public Policy Forum. Highlights of the conference were the Minister's Lifetime Achievement Awards, the ACAATO Awards, and the Doug Light Award, La Soiree Delices Boreal, and the ACAATO Banquet and Premier's Award.

Of the eight ACAATO Awards presented, two Sudbury residents were recognized. Cambrian College's Cheri Corbiere, president of the Cambrian Native Student's Association, who received the Student Innovation Award, and College Boreal's Louise Gervais-Guy, counsellor at the Learning Support Services, received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award.
