Successful first season for Dumfries Sunday XI.

The CromaVigilant Dumfries Sunday XI finished top of the table in the EdenValley Sunday League, with only one defeat and a draw to claim the title. This was the team's first season in the league and winning the title just adds a cherry on the top of what has been a very successful summer for the Sunday XI.

With an emphasis on developing the club's younger players, that proved productive with SeanThornely-Kyle, James Little and Adam Malik amongst the top run scorers and others getting valuable time in the middle.

Similarly with the bowling, Calum Reynolds-Lewis and Hyder Hussain were both equal second top wicket-takers and the bowlers most called upon. Max Corbett-Byers, Luke McBurnie and Sean also contributed on the bowling front as did others with, in total, 16 bowlers used during the season.

A handful of senior players bolstered the side during the season and Danny Armstrong was the top all-rounder for his speedy interventions.

In the second half of the season, weather, THEWORLD Cup and a concession or two affected the schedule but it remained a valuable first season.

Congratulations go to Andy Reed the side's usual captain and to Paddy Corkery for his winning record as skipper.
