Since 2009, BY YOUR SIDE Autism Therapy Services has been dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as their families. By utilizing a comprehensive multidisciplinary therapy approach, BY YOUR SIDE has been able to help hundreds of individuals and families over the years, through ABA Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and more.

Due to the overwhelming need for diagnostic services in the Chicagoland area, we are now offering diagnostic evaluations without a waitlist in our Morton Grove facility through our new partnership with Dr. Maddie William.

Early last year, with a goal of expanding its breadth of services beyond autism, a new division was created: BYS Speech and Occupational Therapy Services LLC. This new entity enables BY YOUR SIDE to help more individuals with other speech and occupational therapy disorders, while still maintaining their client-focused, collaborative approach for children and young adults on the autism spectrum.

BYS provides only the highest quality speech and occupational therapy services through fully licensed and experienced therapists in all locations: Tinley Park, Morton Grove, Burr Ridge and Schaumburg,

Over the years, BY YOUR SIDE has experienced many success stories related to overall progress including milestone goal accomplishment and therapy graduations. Last year, an enlightening story took place involving Brittany Nolan, BYS Center Lead- Speech Therapy and her kiddo client, Adi.

Adi is a 10-year old boy with autism, who is unable to communicate due to severe language deficits and minimal verbal communication skills.

Adi also has been diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis, refractory epilepsy, pica and speech-language disorder, making him a special case, indeed. After engaging Adi in several sessions over a period of time, Brittany and Adi's Therapy team at BY YOUR SIDE recognized that natural speech may never be a reliable means of communication. Brittany and the team worked with several communication alternatives, such as sign language, communication books and iPad programs, all with little success.

Just over a year ago, Brittany presented Adi's parents with one more alternative: an AAC Device (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Excited with a potential solution, Adi's parents still had to work through the intricacies of insurance coverages and benefits before they would get approval for such a device. AAC communication devices typically require special approval from insurance companies due to their cost and necessity. Brittany was relentless in her pursuit to help her client as she knew this was warranted to see improvement and potentially the best approach.

Working in conjunction with their insurance company, doctors and Adi's family, Brittany spent countless hours outlining Adi's therapy history and need for this device.

Weeks later, we received full approval to cover the device. Since Adi has been using the new device, Brittany and the BY YOUR SIDE team have seen marked improvement with Adi's overall communication skills. Adi and his family have truly enjoyed the improved communication and will continue to for the rest of their lives. To learn more about BY YOUR SIDE, visit their website at www.byyoursideac.com.
