Styleweneverseem to see the back of; SINGER CHRIS IS BEHIND RETURN OF CHAPS.

Byline: ANNA BURNSIDE anna.burnside@reachplc.com

CHAPS were originally worn by cowboys to protect their legs from rope burns and thorns while they were out lassoing steers.

Today they are worn by celebrities to make sure they are photographed flashing their bum cheeks as often as possible.

The bottom-free breeks were designed to be worn over jeans but what's the point of hours in the gym if you then cover up? Christina Aguilera kicked it off back in 2002. Her single Dirrty was a huge hit and she was rarely seen in a fully-formed pair of trousers. Now she's revived the look - with a more demure pair of chaps - for her Liberation tour.

It's an easy look to get wrong. There is a fine line between chaps and fishermen's waders.

Made out of denim, or in any colour that's not black, they are all kinds of wrong.

Demi Lovato's denim chaps will be appearing in Worst Dressed lists until she's a grandmother.

Please can we all gave this trend the bum's rush.
