Study Indicates Significant Increase in Grip Strength Measurements in Subjects with Tennis Elbow (Tendonitis) When Using Cyanotech's BioAstin(R) Natural Astaxanthin.

KAILUA KONA, Hawaii -- Cyanotech Corporation (Nasdaq:CYAN), a world leader in producing high-value nutrition and health products from microalgae, has concluded a study of the effects of BioAstin Natural Astaxanthin in humans for the purpose of alleviating pain associated with Tennis Elbow (Tendonitis or lateral humeral epicondylitis).

The double-blind study by an independent research group of 21 subjects taking BioAstin and 12 subjects taking a placebo found that subjects who took BioAstin for 56 days showed a significant increase of 93% in grip strength measurements (GSM) without pain. This correlation of improved GSM without pain and use of BioAstin suggests that daily use can help alleviate pain associated with Tennis Elbow, and increase mobility.

"These findings may lead to greatly improving the standard of living for those who suffer from such muscle tendon disorders," said Dr. Gerald R. Cysewski, Chairman, President and CEO of Cyanotech. "They add to our growing body of knowledge about the positive effects and health benefits of BioAstin Natural Astaxanthin."

Previous studies have provided data suggesting that daily use of BioAstin can help alleviate pain associated with joint damage, specifically in carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and joint soreness after strenuous exercise.

Information about this research is available at www.cyanotech.com.

Event Note: Cyanotech will participate in the Natural Products Expo West trade show, March 24-26, 2006, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Cyanotech's founder and CEO, Dr. Gerald Cysewski, will present a seminar on "BioAstin(R) Natural Astaxanthin, Nature's Anti-Inflammatory(TM)" on Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 AM in room #205A.
