Students' registration for 2018-19 begins early.

Malek Helali Doha The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has decided to start student registration for the upcoming academic year 2018-2019 earlier than done in previous years. Warda Aqil, Director of the public schools' admission and registration office of the schools' affairs department, said the first phase of registration began two weeks before the start of the second-term exams of the current academic year. The second phase of registration started on Monday and will end on April 12 (registration of siblings of Qatari and GCC students). The registration for new Qatari students will be on May 13 and 14 and the transfer of Qatari students regardless of geographical areas will be done on May 15 and 16. Aqil said the ministry has opened three new schools for the upcoming academic year 2018-2019. The three schools are technology secondary school, a grade five and six boys' school in Madinat Khalifa, and a secondary girls' school in Al Sailiyah. There are 199 schools in the country and their number will increase to 202 next year.
