Strong squad for top table.

Byline: By Anthony Vickers Evening Gazette

Some of the biggest names in the game are being lined up for a star-studded fund-raiser to help build a monument.

Plans are afoot for a football-focused Question Time-style platform at the Town Hall - and it is hoped that the panelists will include some bums-on-seats household names.

The council will give the Town Hall free of charge so proceeds from ticket sales will all be poured straight into the fund.

The committee are calling in favours from some of our friends in the South.

Teessider Alan Keen MP, head of the All Party Parliamentary Football Committee in the Commons, and Middlesbrough-born FA media man Adrian Bevington will be asked to pull some strings to ensure a strong squad on the top table.

England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger are among the big names who will be invited along with either Steve McClaren or Steve Gibson from the Boro and former Clough team-mate Alan Peacock.

A mouth-watering line-up with the promise of frank answers to questions from the floor promises to be excellent entertainment and well worth a tenner of anyone's money.
