Strong show by multi newcomers.

Under-15 girls Molly Cornes, Ellie Ross and Naomi Howlieson had attempted pentathlon before but for Amy Cully, Cora Morgan, Ellen Montgomery, Erin Miller, Katherine Fowler and Rebecca Cumming it was their first experience of multi events.

In the high jump there were PBs from Erin (1.16), Ellie (1.22), Cora (1.25) and Ellen (1.34). Further good jumps came from Naomi (1.25), Rebecca (1.31) and Amy (1.22). This was Molly's strongest event with 1.46.

The surprise Central performance, however, came from Katherine who had never high jumped before. Competing in the pool for the novice jumpers, she cleared the bar all the way to 1.37 to end ninth overall out of 40 competitors.

In the 60m hurdles Cora finished in 11 secs, followed by debut hurdler Erin in 13.43.

In the next heat Katherine and Rebecca both ran 11.36 in their first ever races, with Amy running 12.47.

Heat three saw Ellie run 12.68 in her first under-15 race and in heat four Molly ran a PB 10.55, Ellen had a PB 12.13 and Naomi 12.58s.

The long jump saw six more PBs.

Molly jumped 4.59 and further PBs came from Katherine (4.36), Cora (4.36), Amy (3.98), Ellie (3.53) and Erin (3.48) with a season's best 3.59 for Ellen. Rebecca (4.16) and Naomi (3.98) narrowly missed personal bests.

In the shot Molly threw a PB 7.76, Naomi was on form with a PB 6.17 and best ever throws came from Katherine (6.15), Amy (5.98), Cora (5.92), Ellie (5.79), Ellen (5.45), Rebecca (5.1m) and Erin (4.94).

The last event was the 800m. Heat one was dominated by the Central athletes as Amy won in 2.34.18 for an indoor PB. Second and third were Ellie in an indoor best of 2.50.73 and Erin with 2.51.19.

In heat two Naomi won in a PB 2.34.85. Finishing behind her were Ellen 2.58.91 and Rebecca 3.07,00 (both PBs) and Cora in 3:12.00.

Heat 3 saw Katherine comfortably beat her PB with 2.46.36 while Molly took part in the final heat for the medal contenders.

It was a fast race and Molly finished just outside her personal best with 2.50.98.

Molly was top Central finisher with an excellent 2478 points for eighth out of 40 and Katherine was next at 17th with 2136 points.

Naomi scored 1883 points, Amy 1865, Cora 1812, Rebecca 1759, Ellen 1645, Ellie 1544 and Erin 1333.
