Stroh names new Canadian ad agency for Old Milwaukee

The Stroh Brewery Co. has agreed in principle to appoint Ross Roy Canada Ltd. as the first Canadian advertising agency for Old Milwaukee and Old Milwaukee Light. A formal agreement is currently under negotiations, according to Ross Roy Canada president Peter Bowers.

"Ross Roy Canada is extremely pleased to be named part of the Old Milwaukee team," Bowers said. "It's particularly gratifying to win the business through a competitive review process with other fine agencies and be recognized for our creative abilities."

The appointment of the brand's first Canadian advertising agency signifies Stroh's long-term commitment to the Canadian market, explained Ashley Walkley, sales and marketing manager for Old Milwaukee in Canada.

"We selected Ross Roy Canada because of its experience and strategic insights in the beer business and its ability to deliver a diverse range of promotional and marketing services in a fully integrated manner," Walkley said. "Plus, the chemistry struck between our two organizations indicates we will have a very successful working relationship."

The new ad campaign for the brand, which will break this summer, will help accelerate the growth of the brand in the Canadian market, Walkley said. Old Milwaukee is currently Ontario's leading imported beer.
