Strikes hitting air travellers; World briefs.

GERMANY: More than 4,000 pilots at Germany's Lufthansa airline started a four-day strike over job security yesterday. Lufthansa was forced to cancel hundreds of flights. Pilots for Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa's low-budget subsidiary, Germanwings, are also taking part.

FRANCE: French air traffic controllers planned to hold a four-day strike from today over job fears. They hoped to disrupt flights at Paris' Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. Five unions have called for the strike because of plans to integrate European air traffic control.
