Stratford Hand picked.

Byline: FRIDAY, with CATHERINE JONES

A WIRRAL theatre group has been selected to perform at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon as part of the National Showcase this summer.

Hand in Hand Theatre, which performed its production of The Winter's Tale at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, in February, was selected to be part of the show on Sunday, August 9, after performing a scene at the Regional Showcase for Open stages at Contact Theatre, Manchester, in June.

The RSC's Open Stages project works with 100 amateur companies across the UK to celebrate Shakespeare and amateur theatre, the best of which is then selected to appear in the summer performance.

Hand in Hand Theatre director Bev Clark said: "We are delighted to be taking part in this event.

"In 2012 we were part of Open Stages with After the Dream - an original modern sequel to A Midsummer Night's Dream - and then we were so pleased to be part of the project for 2014-2015.

"Our performance of The Winter's Tale was a highly visual piece with music and dance.

"The scene we are showcasing is when Autolycus the rogue meets the Clown for the first time." Tickets for the event are available at www.rsc.org.uk/whats-on/open-stages/openstages-nationalshowcase.aspx
