Strategic Partnership Between Abacus Direct and iMarket Inc. Give Business Mailers One Source for Comprehensive Data.

Business Editors

BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2000

Colorado-based Abacus Direct announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Massachusetts-based iMarket Inc. and its Internet unit, The affiliation between these two leading database companies provides Abacus Direct's Business-to-Business Alliance members with an exceptional new resource for business lists.

An invaluable asset to members, the partnership gives them with the ability to access transactional data that is fully integrated with descriptive data. A combination of such robust data, from one source, has never been available to business-to-business (B2B) mailers before.

As Bill Hubbell, Vice President, Abacus Direct Business-to-Business Alliance explained, "This great partnership combines data from Abacus' transactional database with iMarket's patented matching technology giving Alliance members ready access to both the firmographic and vertical market data they need."

"Firmographic data such as company size, SIC code, revenues and years in business can now be added to Abacus' transactional database which tracks purchase behavior of 30 million contact names." Hubbell continued, "Patterns in data are valuable not only because they give clients more to work with, but they provide a clearer picture on how clients can market to their prospects."

In the past, in addition to descriptive data being separate from transactional data, numerous vendors were involved in managing clients' data. Therefore, the outcome of their mailings was less reliable. As a result of the Abacus/iMarket partnership, the new approach reduces the number of list vendor relationships and combines several production steps into one so Alliance members benefit by:

-- Accessing an outstanding, fully integrated database at a

cost-effective rate.

-- Strengthening their ability to market to their prospects more

-- Having enhanced list selections and stronger models to work

-- Improving timeliness and quality.

-- Obtaining more reliable mailing results.

"iMarket offers a seamless process to add multi-sourced compiled information on businesses to rich transactional data," said President and CEO of iMarket, Will Reynolds. "We are excited to partner with Abacus to offer B2B-enhanced data to their Alliance members."

Abacus Direct, a division of DoubleClick Inc., manages the largest proprietary database of online and offline consumer, retail, publishing, and business-to-business transactions. The company combines the power of this data with proprietary modeling techniques to help its clients with customer acquisition and retention strategies.
