Stouffer Foods announces supplier certification program: Leprino foods first recipient.

Stouffer Foods Corporation today announced that Leprino Foods, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is the first vendor to be designated as a Certified Supplier under its newly instituted supplier certification program. The aim of this program is to identify those suppliers to Stouffer Foods who share a common philosophy regarding the importance of quality and to develop long-term partnerships.

"As we select vendors who will help Stouffer Foods continue to grow in the future, we're looking for those who understand that efficient quality systems help hold down costs, which adds value to our products. Value is defined as the total relationship between Leprino and Stouffer Foods. That means quality, service, price and the technical opportunities we can develop together in a long-term partnership," says Dennis Rennecker, Vice President of Purchasing for Stouffer Foods.

Leprino Foods, which was certified in February, 1993, is the nation's largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese. The company holds more than 20 patents and is the leading supplier of IQF (individually quick-frozen) mozzarella product. Leprino Foods operates eight manufacturing plants, nine foodservice distribution centers and its own transportation fleet.

Stouffer Foods is Leprino's largest industrial customer and uses the Leprino mozzarella product on its French Bread Pizzas, and in its various lasagnas and other entrees. Stouffer Foods Corporation, a Nestle USA, Inc. company, is headquartered in the Cleveland suburb of Solon, Ohio. It operates production plants in Solon; Gaffney, South Carolina; and Springville, Utah and employs 4,000 people nationwide.
