Stoudt Brewing Co. announces its 15th annual summer-long festival.

The Stoudt Brewing Co. of Adamstown, PA has announced the start of the summer-long "15th Annual Stoudt's Beer Festival." The event takes place at Stoudt's Brewery Hall, and officially begins with the tapping of the brewery's summer specialty beers on July 10.

The brewery's co-founders, Ed and Carol Stoudt, will taps the first kegs of the brewery's Weizen Reserve and Beer Fest Bock reserve.

According to the brewery, the Weizen Reserve is an unfiltered wheat beer that won gold medals in 1989 and 1990 at the Great American Beer Festival.

Stoudt's Brewery Hall, which is located midway between the cities of Lancaster and Reading, is reported to be an exact duplication of a German Bier Garten.

The Stoudt Brewery Hall includes a stage and spacious dance floor, and bordered on three sides by landscaped, glass-enclosed courtyards that can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

During the fest, Stoudt reports, visitors will be treated to music from a number of well-known Austrian and Bavarian bands, including Austria's Stratton Mountain Boys. According to the brewery, the Stratton Mountain Boys are famed for their shows, which feature bell-ringing, schuhplattler dancing, alpine horns and singing saws.

The brewery reports that its repertoire of beers changes with the seasons, and notes that the brewery has captured 12 medals in five years at the great American Beer Festival. "At the 1992 Festival," Ed Stoudt says, "Stoudt's Reserve Beers won more medals than any other brewery in the U.S., with golds for festival Reserve and Export Gold, and silvers for Mai Bock and Golden Lager."
