Stored away presents go up in smoke.

Byline: Sarah Dale Reporter

CHRISTMAS presents were lost in a Guisborough farm blaze at the weekend.

Five fire engines and an incident and command unit were called to Howlbeck Mill Farm on Wilton Lane at 9pm on Friday.

A JCB and tractor, as well as Christmas presents hidden away, were destroyed by the fire in a large farm building.

There were canisters of acetylene and oxygen in the building but they were not on fire.

Nearby buildings were evacuated for safety reasons and firefighters cooled them down.

No one was hurt in the incident.

There were also other machinery and tools in the shed which were destroyed in the blaze.

Firefighters remained at the scene until 9am on Saturday cooling down the contents of the farm building.
