Store staff get into the red nose spirit; COMIC RELIEF.

SAINSBURY'S in Victoria Road, Darlington, is hotted up for Red Nose Day by selling red noses, giggler balls and whoopee cushions and there are also raffle tickets available at the customer service desk. They cost pounds 1 and you could win a trip to New York (the red apple) or the Red Sea.

Colleagues, pictured right, were attempting to raise pounds 2,000 today with a sponsored head shave, a tombola, cake and book stall.

Customers can buy tins of beans for pounds 1 to empty on to a manager in a paddling pool. Virgin Vie are giving face massages and store manager Tom Phillipson has been sponsored to take a bike challenge on a training roller.

Hummersknott School, Darlington Minis rugby team, Hurworth School and Darlington Rotary Club were helping with bag packing to share their proceeds with Comic Relief.

Staff dressed in red and as superheroes walked across town last Sunday with collecting buckets.
