Stoke win vital for survival says Greening; ALBION NEWS.

ALBION must beat Stoke this weekend to send out a message they are not dead and buried.

The Potters are 16th and eight points ahead of the Baggies.

But anything other than an Albion win on Saturday could put Stoke out of reach and effectively leave Tony Mowbray's side needing a minor miracle to stave off relegation.

Jonathan Greening insists they must take all three points.

"It's a massive game," said the captain.

"I know everyone says the next game is big but if we can put a good performance in and get the three points it will put the pressure on other teams, even Stoke again because they've had a good few results recently.

"It will show the rest of the teams we're not giving up without a fight and we'll go to the end.

"If we didn't beat Stoke it wouldn't mathematically put us down and take Stoke out of the equation but then we'd probably have to win the games against Sunderland, Portsmouth and Blackburn." Greening was part of the Great Escape team in 2005, making way for substitute Geoff Horsfield who scored with his first touch in that 2-0 win against Portsmouth.

He feels the Stoke game is not quite as vital but it ranks as Albion's most important of the campaign so far.

"It will be one of the biggest games I've played in," he added.

"The biggest was the Great Escape win over Portsmouth.

"We'll be working hard this week to get into a good position to face Stoke. If we don't perform it's our fault.

"The attention to detail on the set-plays from Stoke is something we'll be working on 110 per cent."
