Stock exchange honour for Grimsby seafood firm.

Grimsby seafood firms do not usually feature high on attention list of the London Stock Exchange until now.

The company Flatfish, which has one of the most modern processing plants in Europe, has been listed by the London Stock Exchange' as one of its "1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain".

The report is a celebration of the UK's fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses. To be included in the list, they need to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.

Flatfish is a family owned company which was founded in 1979 by Steve Stansfield who heads a multi-million pound business from a modern processing facility in the heart of the town, which is the largest centre of fish processing in Europe.

A continuous programme of investment has enabled it to remain at the forefront of current advances in fish processing technology, improving both its processing capacity and manufacturing efficiencies. The company says it is committed to upholding the integrity of it supply chain, by reference to scientific research into the sustainability of the fish stocks.
