RE: Coventry Market photo of the 21st anniversary (Nov 7, right).

My grandmother, who was on all the markets - the Rex, the Barracks, West Orchard - had a knitwear stall in the new market when it opened. Although I was only 13 years old at the time, I was her 'Saturday girl'.

My father then had his own fruit stall, E Payne. I had my own knitwear stall, N Harris - my grandmother's name - and my husband had his own fruit stall called D M Vent.

My father retired at 65, but myself and my husband sold our stalls and took over my father's stall (my father still worked on the stall until he reached the age of 85). Although my husband returned in 2007 and sold the stall, I still worked on it for one or two days a week.

So I am still there now, working on it every Friday morning, 59 years later, and hope to be still there next year for its 60th anniversary. Pat Vent Styvechale
