Stick to the rules for a perfect swish party.

Byline: By GRACE MACASKILL

THE craze is so successful, swishing even has its own rules.

A website - www.swishing.org - gives tips and advice on how to throw an event, and details on where parties are being held.

The rules are as follows:

INITIAL PREPARATIONS

Pick a date.

Decide where to have it.

Download an invitation from www.swishing.org

Send it out to all your friends.

PREPARATION ON THE NIGHT

If you have rails and hangers handy, use them. If not, laying clothes out or hanging them over chairs and ladders works.

Get creative.

Prepare some nibbles.

HOW THE SWISH WORKS

People arrive, add their items and spend some time rifling through the goodies over a glass of wine.

You decide the starting time for the swish - usually an hour or so after guests arrive.

Once most people are there, explain the rules and announce the starting time. Give a five minute warning before the start of the swish.

Do an official countdown to the opening of the swish.

When it opens, whatever people take is theirs.

THE RULES OF THE SWISH

Everyone must bring at least one item of clothing but people can leave with as many items as they want.

No one can reserve items before the swish opens.

Remember ladies - no scratching, spitting or biting.
