Stick a needle on your retro tunes.

Byline: Joanne Ridout Property Editor

you remember vinyl records with great fondness, you are not the only one. Sales of vinyl records continue to soar, increasing by an estimated 500% in the last three years.

British company GPO have noticed that the popularity of vinyl has been gathering momentum over the years, and in recognition of this trend, have launched the Bermuda Record Player in time for Record Store Day, which is actually today. This dedicated day is a celebration of the UK's independent record shops.

Gary Basso, co-director at GPO, says: "It's a revival that started in independent record shops and now it's becoming more ubiquitous on the high street. We've seen the vinyl and turntable market increase dramatically in the last five years.

"What kick-started this revival was a sense of nostalgia, not unusual in an economic downturn, but the turntable has become part and parcel of the modern day music collector."

Reminiscent of the most iconic record player in the business, the GPO Bermuda is inspired by the classic Dansette from the early 1960s. Available in blue/cream or red/ cream, this slender two-speed turntable captures all the magic of the iconic Dansette design, but with a few essential improvements to ensure it's pumping out the sounds in 2016.

The record player features a fully automatic return tone arm, threespeed deck, built-in dynamic full range stereo speakers, MP3 and USB play-back options and the option to record from LP to USB.

And there's more. As well as having built-in twin stereo speakers, this portable record player can play 33, 45 and 78s and has a built-in RCA audio out that allows connection to additional speakers.

The Bermuda can also record all of your old vinyl to the USB stick supplied and is fully portable. Just when you think it couldn't get any funkier, the company is also releasing a record player in a brief-f case in June.

Yes, that's right, no room for your files and paperwork, as this dapper briefcase contains the GPO Ambassador rechargeable turntable with bluetooth connectivity.

The GPO Bermuda is available from online store So, get up in the loft and hunt down your old vinyl, if you haven't already, and bring the music past into the present, retro style.
