Steve shows pop talent.

TV talent show winner Steve Brookstein proved his X Factor credentials last night when his debut album stormed in at the top of the charts.

Heart & Soul, a collection of soul classics performed by the London-born star, went straight to number one in the album charts. He knocked Hip Hop lover Akon off the top spot and ensured Trouble fell to second place.

In the singles chart, Akon hung on to the number one spot for the second week with Lonely, while Gorillaz jumped 18 places to number two with Feel Good Inc and Tony Christie and Peter Kay fell one place with their charity version of (Is This The Way To) Amarillo
