Steve Vanata, co-founder, flavor & fragrance specialties.

Steve Vanata, co-founder of Flavor & Fragrance Specialties, Inc., passed away in May. Vanata, 80, was an executive vice president at Flavor & Fragrance Specialties for 24 years until his retirement in 2007.

He was a graduate of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a skilled formulator, responsible for many innovations in the cosmetic, household and industrial product industries. Vanata is named on the original patent held by Monsanto Corporation for I malodor counteractant material commercially known as Veliex. He held positions with Jewel Tea, Helene Curtis, Roure-Dupont, Monsanto and Nesdd before starting FFS.

Vanata is survived by his wife Carolyn; sons Mark and Dave, daughters-in-law Michelle and Penny, and six grandchildren.
