Sterling Software division awarded federal contract.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 1996--Sterling Software, Inc. (SSW-NYSE) said its Information Technology Division (ITD), headquartered in Bellevue, Neb., has been awarded the follow-on contract to its Satellite Data Handling System Support and Services (SDHS S&S) contract.

This contract, valued at an estimated life cycle cost of approximately $30.4 million, will provide operations and maintenance, and technical services support to the Air Force Global Weather Center (AFGWC) at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

AFGWC is part of Air Weather Service and operates the largest weather processing center in the Air Force on a 365-day-a-year and 24-hour-per-day basis. This contract, awarded by the Air Force's Air Mobility Command Contracting Flight at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., covers a 58-month period of performance beginning Dec. 2, 1996. By winning this contract, Sterling Software ITD has maintained its record of never losing a re-solicitation in which Sterling served as the incumbent prime contractor.

The SDHS is a man-machine interactive weather graphics and imagery system that consists of hardware and software components which generate weather products using both automated and interactive graphic techniques.

The engineering and support activities will be performed at the AFGWC location and Sterling Software ITD Headquarters located in Bellevue, Neb. ITD is a division of Sterling's Federal Systems Group. Sterling will be assisted on the effort by a subcontractor team comprised of Grumman Systems Support Division, Command Technologies Inc., and Engineering/Documentation Systems Inc.
