Sterling Software Delivers Web-Based Interface For IBM's Electronic Mail and Calendar System

VM:Webserver(TM) Connects OfficeVision/VM(R) with the World Wide Web

RESTON, Va., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Software's (NYSE: SSW) VM Software Division, the recognized leader in VM systems management solutions, today released VM:Webserver for OfficeVision. VM:Webserver is a robust, high- performance World Wide Web server for the VM/ESA operating system. The OfficeVision extension to VM:Webserver provides a web browser interface for IBM's OfficeVision/VM electronic mail and calendar system which is accessed daily by more than eight million users. The product provides a user-friendly graphical alternative to OfficeVision/VM's native 3270 character-based interface.

Available today, the VM:Webserver for OfficeVision calendar interface allows users to manage their calendars, check colleagues' schedules, and arrange meetings through an intuitive, point-and-click interface. The electronic mail interface, available in Q1 1997, will also extend OfficeVision's E-mail features by allowing users to attach files to their notes.

With VM:Webserver for OfficeVision, customers benefit from a centralized mainframe environment which minimizes the costs of deployment, administration, and support. Availability and Pricing

VM:Webserver for OfficeVision's calendar interface is available today. The electronic mail interface will be available in Q1 1997. VM:Webserver for OfficeVision's price is based on CPU group size or on the number of OfficeVision/VM users; customers can select whichever pricing structure best meets their needs. The standard price for VM:Webserver for OfficeVision on a model group 40 is $25,300. The standard price for 2,501-5,000 users is $25,000. Special introductory pricing is available.
