Stericycle Announces $7 Million Brazil Agreement

DEERFIELD, Ill., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Stericycle, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRCL), the second largest provider of regulated medical waste management services in the U.S., announced today that it has entered into a licensing and supply agreement with CAVO group, a subsidiary of Carmargo Correa S.A., to establish Stericycle's ETD technology in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"We believe this agreement can provide in excess of $7 million dollars in new revenue for Stericycle from the sale of equipment, technology license, professional fees and royalties between now and the end of 1999," said Mark C. Miller, president and chief operating officer.

"Stericycle's patented ETD technology was chosen over other technologies because of the environmental benefits and cost effectiveness of our system," Miller continued.

Stericycle is the second-largest provider of regulated medical waste management services in the U.S. The Company's Electro-Thermal-Deactivation process destroys human pathogens without producing regulated air pollutants, and permits resource recovery. Stericycle operates on a multi-regional basis, providing medical waste collection, transportation, treatment, disposal, reduction and resource recovery.
