Step inside home of the future.

AFUTURE-PROOF home to be displayed at the Ideal Home Show will be brought back to the North East and offered for sale in the region.

Built by Trivselhus-by-Esh, the Future Proof Home has the potential to be run at Zero-Energy cost. It is expected to be viewed by more than 250,000 people during the 17 days of the show.

Trivselhus-by-Esh is working with Northumberland County Council as it seeks innovative solutions enabling low-carbon housing in executive and social housing markets.

Esh Group has formed a joint venture with Swedish company Sodra, owners of the Trivselhus brand, to create the Future Proof Home. The Ideal Home Show is at London'd Olympia from March 20-April 6. Chief executive Brian Manning, said: "We are very proud and excited that the Trivselhus-by-Esh house has been chosen by the Ideal Homes Show to be showcased as the Future Proof Home. It will feature prominently as one of only three houses in the show village at the event.

"We've been working with Trivselhus since 2009 and unveiled our first home as part of the venture in September 2010 at Bowburn in Durham and followed with further houses in Sunderland. Since then careful checks carried out on energy consumption in these homes has enabled us to show that it is possible to run a Trivselhus-by-Esh home without incurring any energy bills - that is, at zero-energy cost."

Lee Newton, CEO of Ideal Home Show owners Media 10, said: "As the past few years have seen energy bills reach near extortionate prices, it's great to see that there is a finally a solution to the problem - the Future Proof House.

"The Ideal Home Show has always been on the forefront of innovative housing and architecture, and while this year we're moving back to our old home at London Olympia, we're looking ahead to a future where the everyday family home will have the opportunity to experience Zero Energy bills."

The Future Proof Home, manufactured in factory conditions, is assembled on site. The fabric first approach is the design process which focuses attention on the integrity of the shell of the building thus reducing the home's energy requirement. Climate Shield is the name given to the closed-panel timber frame construction.

High-precision construction methods are used to create the panels of the house Energy-saving, passive applications are integrated into the Climate Shield. These reduce thermal leakage, retain heat and reduce energy demand and include: 240mm wool insulation built into the closed panels at fabrication stage which provide a highly insulated layer; warm in the winter, cool in the summer Triple glazed argon filled windows to trap natural heat gain and which can be maximised by the orientation of the building Precision engineered joints between building sections which form an airtight bond Service conduits embedded into the build at factory stage so maintaining the integrity of the building fabric The home lends itself to a wide range of architectural styles and building sizes and types - so offering potential to the full extent of the housing market, from starter apartments to luxury family homes.

Virtually any type of exterior finishing materials can be used, therefore Trivselhus-by Esh can be used where planning restrictions demand stringent materials standards be specified and adhered to.
