Stem rising tide of crime.

I WAS shocked to read about a horrendous attack on a deaf woman in broad daylight in St Stephen's Green on Monday.

Thankfully Good Samaritan Pat Flynn bravely intervened and rescued the victim by beating the thug who was assaulting her with a tree branch.

Aside from how terrifying it must have been for that woman, it's also a shocking indictment of how crime-ridden our capital has become.

With summer heralding our busiest tourist season, it is very worrying that serious crimes like this can take place in broad daylight in one of our main parks.

More garda patrols need to be urgently deployed to clean up the streets of the city.

We can't allow this chaos to continue.
