Staying in the church.

* Brian Cahill's "Don't let church leaders drive you away" (NCR, May 27)

is a heartfelt response to the current problems in the church today and an intelligent apologia for staying. Starting with the Eucharist and going on to include examples of impressive Catholics he has known, even bishops in the San Francisco diocese, Brian includes his own imperfections and brokenness. Whether we rise to the challenges he puts to us or not, it is quite wonderful to realize he will not be leaving. Thank you for this inspirational viewpoint for all of us to ponder.

Letters to the editor should be limited to 250 words and preferably typed. If a letter refers to a previous issue of NCR, please give us that issue's date. We reserve the right to edit all letters.
