State rears its people like a mother to her children: Justice Dost Mohammad.
ISLAMABAD -- Supreme Court (SC) has sought reply from concerned authorities for suffering loss by the petitioner to the tune of Rs 250000 owing to reduction in mark up rate of National Saving Certificates (NSCs).
Justice Dost Mohammad Khan has remarked " state is like a mother and people are its children. State rears its children like a mother. But here state is such a strange mother that it shifts more burden to its children rather than bringing up them. Providing amenities to citizens as per law and constitution is responsibility of government.
A 3member bench of SC presided over by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali took up for hearing a petition filed by a citizen Abdul Bari Tuesday.
The petitioner told the court he had purchased NSCs in 1999 and government had curtailed his profit by changing the mark up rate of the certificates in 2005. The certificate held by him had matured in 2001 and he had to suffer loss to the tune of Rs 250000 due to new profit policy of government. Therefore, orders be issued to compensate for this loss besides calling reply from the concerned authorities.
The court while adjourning the hearing of the case for one week has sought reply about profit rate from the concerned authorities.
