Hello everyone! We are glad to serve as members of the Student Board for the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science. David Zhang is the Co-President, and William Zhang is the Co-Vice President. We have been a part of SCJAS for four years now, and we are extremely happy that so many students are involved with the organization. It is certainly a great time to be engaged in science in our state. The South Carolina Junior Academy of Science welcomes back all of its returning members and encourages any new members to join.

On October 23rd, 2010, SCJAS held a fantastic Fall Workshop at Winthrop University. The theme of this workshop was psychology, as we had a great professor bust some common myths on psychology. At the workshop, there was also an exciting Psychology Bowl that everyone, even teachers, participated in. All of the schools had a fun time answering the questions in this bowl.

Our next event will be the Annual Meeting at South Carolina State University on Saturday, April 16, 2011. SCJAS will be combining the Winter Workshop with the Annual Meeting this year. At the Annual Meeting, breakout sessions will be offered in a similar manner that took place at the Fall Workshop. The Annual Meeting is also a great place for students to present their own research. This meeting represents the culmination of a year or more of research for many students. They are even able compete to win cash prizes for their oral and paper reports! There will be many different categories for students to enter their research into. We look forward to all of you participating and showing off the hard work you've done all year! We hope that everyone enjoyed the Fall Workshop and that everyone will attend this year's Annual Meeting.

As this is our senior year of high school, we are grateful for everything that SCJAS has done for us. We urge all of you to take the opportunity to fully use SCJAS to your advantage. As you continue in your high school science careers and beyond, we wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors.
