State Secretarial positions at government agencies should be held by women, says Kyrgyz Parliament Vice Speaker.

The positions of State Secretaries at government agencies should be held by women, Parliament Vice Speaker Bodosh Mamyrova said at the round table discussion on expansion of women's participation in political parties in Kyrgyzstan held on April 17. The Vice Speaker said women head only one region and one district administrations in the country. The gender representation quota is not met in the Parliament either, she added. MP Ainuru Altybaeva suggested that women's quota in elected bodies should be no less than 30 percent. The group was already created to prepare respective changes in the electoral legislation, she said.
