State Minister at Defence Ministry Heads Sudan Delegation for Meetings of Defence Ministers of Sahel and Sahara Group.

Khartoum, May 5 (SUNA)- The State Minister of Defence, Gen. Ali Mohamed Salem, has headed Sudan delegation for participation in meetings of the Ministers of Defence of the Sahel and Sahara Grouping which were held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, during May 4-5. Addressing the meetings, Gen. Salem has referred to the security situation in Sudan and the efforts being exerted by the state for boosting the values of national accord and political accord through implementation of the national dialogue recommendations. He referred to the arrangements adopted for combating terrorism, human trafficking and weapons, drugs and cross-border crime, pointing to the successes reached in this connection. He also referred to the support being extended by South Sudan State to the Sudanese rebel movements despite the agreements which were signed between the two countries. Gen. Salem has praised the experiment of the Sudanese - Chad joint forces for securing the joint border area. He called on the group and the international community to support the efforts of Sudan in combating terrorism, the negative movements and the cross border crimes. MO
