Stars come out for British awards night; Tomorrow.

The British Academy Film Awards (BBC1, 9pm) TWO weeks before the Oscars, it's time for the great and the good from the film-making world on both sides of the Atlantic to gather for another festival of backslapping.

After the Golden Globes, there's another interesting head to head for Avatar's James Cameron and The Hurt Locker's Kathryn Bigelow as the former husband and wife prepare to continue their rekindled rivalry right up to the Academy Awards.

Expect An Education to do well and, if Colin Firth (A Single Man) can beat Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) to best actor, expect his Oscar odds to shorten considerably.

If you want to see a relatively bad film instead of celebrating the good ones, 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Channel 4, 7.55pm) premieres the 2007 Fantastic Four sequel starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans.

Sadly, it's something of a disappointment, just like the premiere of Rob Reiner's 2005 comedy Rumor Has It... (ITV1, 10.15pm).

Today's live soccer matches include Villa v Burnley (Sky Sports 1, ko 2pm) and Wigan v Tottenham Hotspur (ko 4.15pm).

Jessica Alba stars in the Fantastic Four sequel with Ioan Gruffudd. Up for an award: Colin Firth is nominated for a Bafta.
