Stars Lord it for the fans at the Rings' UK premiere.

THOUSANDS of Lord Of The Rings fans turned out for the final instalment in the Tolkien trilogy at its British movie premiere last night.

London's Leicester Square was transformed into Middle Earth when the cast attend the screening of Return of the King.

Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom and Sir Ian McKellen arrived to herald the release of the third and last film.

The first two instalments in the trilogy made close to one billion dollars each (pounds 570m) and this one is being tipped to make even more - becoming only the second film to pass the one billion dollar mark, after Titanic.

It again follows hob bit Frodo, played by Elijah Wood,as he continues his journey through Middle Earth to destroy the ring.

The critics are now wondering whether Return Of The King could win the ultimate prize,best picture at next year's Oscars.
