Stargazing Tory's mad plan for NHS.

Byline: Edited by FIONA PARKER

PEOPLE cannot be surprised at the revelation that Tory MP David Tredinnick believes astrology can save the NHS. After all we have a Prime Minister and Chancellor who believe austerity can save the economy.

It hasn't done so in any other country and it won't here either. It wouldn't surprise me if other Tory MPs believe in Father Christmas and the tooth fairy as well. And there are probably members of The House Of Lords who still believe the Earth is flat.

It just sums up the Coalition - out of touch, arrogant, ignorant and with the logic and intelligence of an average five-year-old. And yes that does include the Prime Minister and Chancellor!

In 2010 David Cameron stated a Tory government would "fight the deficit, not the NHS'. Five years on we are living the lie. MP David Tredinnick now tells us our once great health service can be saved by astrology.

As a Sagittarian, renowned for their optimism and love of freedom, I take what is written in the stars with a pinch of salt. My sense of optimism and love of freedom tells me only Labour can save the NHS, not some Russell Grant wannabe.

What on earth has Tory MP David Tredinnick been smoking? Everybody from David Cameron, to the overpaid and needless NHS penpushers have been running around like headless chickens failing to find a way to save the country's health service. But now, in a last crazy attempt to avoid funding it adequately without losing votes, a Tory MP proposes using horoscopes. So, if the moon is in Venus, what illness have I got? No, fix it by funding it adequately.

I'm both confused and astounded by comments made by Tory MP David Tredinnick proposing to save the NHS with astrology. What a pathetic claim. Most of us don't live in a world of make-believe like many of the Tories. Ed Miliband has promised to save the NHS and I am confident he will succeed.

What nonsense from Tory MP David Tredinnick. The solution to the NHS crisis is simple - get rid of a lot of the upper managers running health trusts, along with their hangers-on, so more staff can be employed on wards.

Maybe then things would improve. That's the answer, not looking to astrology to solve the problems. Gill Wilsea, Gainsborough, Lincs

Tredinnick really is two sandwiches short of a picnic if that is what he believes. How about treating all NHS staff with respect and giving them a pay rise for a start? The only way to help the NHS is to get rid of these clowns running the country.

As a Labour Party member, I never imagined defending a Tory MP. I am a member of the Astrological Association. What David Tredinnick is saying is that astrology is a useful diagnostic tool, seeing strengths and weaknesses through the birth chart.

Like Mr Tredinnick, I have found astrology to be a subject worthy of study and I will continue to do so regardless of critics like Stephen Fry or Prof Richard Dawkins.

THE BIG ISSUED

Health Select Committee Tory MP David Tredinnick claimed astrology was a "useful diagnostic tool" that could help solve the NHS crisis. You say the Tories aren't living in the real world...
