Starbucks Famous Frappuccino(R) Blended Beverages Get Tea'd up for Summer with a Juicy Makeover; New Beverage Platform Extends the Frappuccino(R) Blended Beverage Line up with Lower-Calorie Beverages Made with Fruit Juice and Tazo(R) Tea.

SEATTLE -- Starbucks (Nasdaq:SBUX) is giving its Frappuccino(R) blended beverages a new fruit twist that will turn an escape to the beach into a tropical retreat. Starting today, Starbucks debuts Pomegranate Frappuccino(R) juice blend and Tangerine Frappuccino(R) juice blend made with fruit juice and freshly-brewed Tazo(R) tea.

"Starbucks hand-picked these flavors to capture the essence of summer, knowing that our customers want the most refreshing beverages that surprise and delight their senses with appealing ingredients and unexpected tastes," said Michelle Gass, senior vice president of Category Management. "These new Frappuccino(R) juice blends are an example of how Starbucks continually adapts to evolving customer needs and invests in innovation. One of the areas of increasing customer interest is for healthier beverage alternatives. Both Frappuccino(R) juice blend beverages contain real fruit juice, are naturally fat-free, low in calories, cholesterol-free and completely non-dairy. And like all Starbucks beverages, they can be customized with any flavor of Tazo(R) tea -- caffeinated or caffeine free. The summer months -- particularly July -- are typically the 'hottest' times of the year for Frappuccino(R) blended beverages, our new thirst-quenching flavors are sure to tempt the taste buds throughout the year."

Juicing Up New Tastes of Summer

Made with all-natural, freshly-brewed Tazo(R) green tea, Pomegranate Frappuccino(R) juice blend revitalizes the senses with its lively mix of pomegranate, and other exotic flavors and blended with ice. It is the perfect summer refresher. Adding to the taste temptation, a serving of Pomegranate Frappuccino(R) juice blend contains as many anti-oxidants as an equivalent amount of orange juice, this lower-calorie option provides 40 percent of an adult's daily vitamin C requirement.

And, it's no wonder that the flavor is about to explode, the French actually named their hand-tossed explosive -- the grenade -- after the seed-scattering properties of this rouge fruit.

Tangerine Frappuccino(R) juice blend is a tangy blend of freshly-brewed Tazo(R) Passion(TM) tea, tangerine, and a splash of lime flavor blended with ice. Refreshing and icy, its cool flavors make it a perfect choice for a hot summer day.

The new Tangerine Frappuccino(R) juice blend is one of the lowest calorie Frappuccino(R) blended beverages on the menu with just 140 calories in a Tall (12 oz.) serving and no fat.

Even though this tangy fruit conjures up tropical day dreams, it's named after the city of Tangiers in Morocco and widely grown in China.
