Star prizes on offer at Derby walk launch; Racing people Focus on those at the heart of the action.

DERBY nut John Sandys, who in aid of the Injured Jockeys' Fund, Greatwood and the Starlight Children's Foundation is walking 20 miles from Knightsbridge to Epsom on June 3, is holding a launch party a week today at the Drill Inn, Worcester Park in London with live music, a barbecue, auction and raffle.

Sandys says: "I wanted to pay homage to the thousands of Londoners who have made this pilgrimage over the years and am delighted to be able to raise money to grant Starlight children's wishes, and help my chosen charities while I'm at it. I'm hoping we'll get even more of a following on the day." Among the raffle prizes on offer are a morning on the gallops, including breakfast at Kingsclere with Andrew Balding; four tickets for the Duchess's Stand at Epsom on Investec Oaks day; tickets for Cheltenham and Newmarket; a photograph of Look Here winning the Oaks signed by jockey Seb Sanders and trainer Ralph Beckett; and a family ticket to the Epsom open day on August 2.

The party next Thursday starts at 7pm; all are welcome. Anyone wishing to make a donation to one of the three charities can do so via thederbywalk2009.co.uk..
