Stanley are Miles better on the day; CM CARPETS CONSETT SUNDAY LEAGUE.

A SOLITARY Paul Miles strike helped East Stanley WMC beat high-flying Chopwell Central in Division One.

Chester Garden Farm enjoyed a free-flowing 5-1 win at home South Moor Sports in Division Two. John Morris scored twice along with Dean Cooper, David Baines and Aaron Bell. Brett McGill replied.

In Division Three, there was also a 5-1 win for Freemasons, with Craig Hampton notching a hat-trick at Stanley Ox.

An extra-time win for Consett Station Ex turned out to be the only success story for the league in the first round of the North West Charity Cup.

The scores were locked together at 2-2 after normal time at Holmside - only for the Station to score twice more and run out 4-2 winners.
