Standard drops in Belgium.

ROUND-UP & RESULTS DANISH side Esbjerg handed Standard Liege a first defeat of the season last night - thanks to an injury-time winner in their Europa League Group C opener.

The Belgians went into the home tie boasting 13 wins out of 13, seven in the Juliper League and six in European competition, but Esbjerg sub Mushaga Bakenga scored five minutes into stoppage time to earn a shock 2-1 victory.

The opening group stage matches also threw up another shock in Eindhoven where PSV, one of five teams in action who have previously won the UEFA Cup or Europa League, were beaten 2-0 at home to Bulgarians Ludogorets in Group B. PSV keeper Jeroen Zoet's misplaced clearance on the hour handed Ludgorets the opening goal.

He rushed out to clear a long ball but found only Roman Bezjak who stroked it back into the empty net.

Phillip Cocu's side lost a second goal in 74 minutes when Virgil Misidjan put away the rebound after his shot struck a post.

Jonathan Soriano hit a hat-trick as Red Bull Salzburg thumped Elfsborg 4-0 in Group C. Fiorentina also eased to a 3-0 win at home to Pacos Ferreira in Group E and Rubin Kazan romped to a 5-2 Group D victory over Maribor in Slovenia.

Kevin Gameiro came off the bench to fire Sevilla to a 2-1 win at Estoril in Group H. The Primera Liga side toiled for an hour in Portugal before Vitolo made the breakthrough.

Estoril hit back within two minutes through Bruno Miguel but Gameiro stunned the hosts in 77 minutes.
