Stand-off ends in arrest.

A MAN has been arrested following a rooftop stand-off with police yesterday afternoon.

A road was blocked by emergency services after 1pm as they attempted to negotiate with the man sitting on the roof of a house on Cambridge Road in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough.

After a stand-off of more than an hour, the man was brought down by members of the fire brigade and the road was reopened shortly after 3.15pm.

He was then arrested on suspicion of two common assaults. Two police vans, an ambulance, a fire truck and several firemen were in attendance as they attempted to negotiate with the man and get him down safely.
