Stan's the man shaping a return.

On the subject of obese footballers such as big Nev, it has emerged today one Stanley Collymore is on the brink of a comeback.

Colly broke Toon hearts in 1996 when he fired Liverpool's injury-time winner in the first of the 4-3 defeats at Anfield.

After hearing the news that out-of-contract striker Chris Sutton had been snapped up by Aston Villa, Collymore now wants to follow suit.

He said: "You are not going to see headlines about me being kicked out of a bar somewhere in the early hours rolling drunk.

"It might sound big-headed but I still believe I am the best."

To say Stan had a chequered career is an understatement but he hit several cracking goals in his time.

Regardless of what anyone says, he is one of the game's characters.

Collymore (left) went on to vow: "A month from today I guar-antee I will be able to stand side by side with any striker in the country."

But surely getting your photo taken next to Thierry Henry does not count, eh Stan?
