Stamp of approval for Bond.

JAMES Bond is back on her majesty's service after Royal Mail unveiled their latest set of special stamps - in honour of 007 author Ian Fleming.

The extra-large stamps will feature four different covers from different editions of six of the best-loved Bond novels.

They will go on sale in January to mark the 100th anniversary of Fleming's birth.

Casino Royale and Dr No feature on first-class stamps. Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever appear on 54p airmail stamps and For Your Eyes Only and From Russia With Love on 78p versions.

Corinne Turner, managing director of Ian Fleming Publications, said: "It is a privilege for Ian Fleming's novels to be celebrated by the Royal Mail special stamps programme and we couldn't ask for a better start to his centenary year.

"James Bond once again in the service of his queen and country - the first of many new adventures in 2008."

Julietta Edgar, head of Royal Mail Special Stamps, said: "Fictional heroes don't come much more famous than James Bond, so it's entirely appropriate that we start our 2008 special stamp programme by honouring his creator, Ian Fleming."

Fleming wrote 14 Bond novels and 100 million copies have been sold. Bond fans can also look forward to a new Bond novel, Devil May Care, written by Sebastian Faulks.
