Stage play lets actors have a whale of a time.

WARWICKSHIRE performers are turning to Oscar-winning writer Anthony Minghella for a stage special.

Minghella's screen credits include The English Patient, Truly, Madly, Deeply and The Talented Mr Ripley. Now the Loft Theatre in Leamington is aiming to move audiences with his theatre play Whale Music.

It follows a mum-to-be awaiting the birth of her baby with her best friends.

Director Ann Mulraine said: "When first reading Whale Music I constantly went back to the screenplay Truly, Madly, Deeply. It's a brave man who attempts to unravel the complexities of women." The cast includes Ann Williams, Lesley Simms, Dani Carbery, Sue Moore, Kate Wilson, Suzi Walker, Judy Ferguson and Mirelle Ball. Whale Music opens for a week-long run on Monday. For tickets ring 01926 426341.
